Pitch Award for mechIC at "Investor Days Thüringen" 2025 - Edition X

The 10th Edition of "Investor Days Thüringen" (IDT) once again brought together the international startup community in Erfurt on June 4 and 5, 2025 to make groundbreaking innovations visible, promote investments and create new partnerships. With pitches from start-ups and scale-ups, inspiring success stories and exciting impulses, the event offered an ideal platform for networking and exchanging ideas with investors, other start-ups and politicians. 

mechIC was able to secure one of the coveted 20 pitch slots and was able to present its business idea in front of international investors as well as Economics Minister Colette Boos-John and the Mayor of Erfurt, Andreas Horn. The business idea was convincing and received a pitch award, sponsored by LeoBlu Patentanwälte.

1st place for mechIC at IVAM Hightech Summit 2025

At the IVAM Hightech Summit 2025 at Signal Iduna Park Dortmund on May 22, mechIC had the great opportunity to present the mechIC strain sensors to an expert audience as part of a pitch competition.

mechIC was able to convince the jury with its micromechanical strain sensors and is delighted to receive a one-year IVAM membership and a Resilience Review Workshop worth over €5,000, sponsored by Board Connect GmbH.

NRW Start-up Pitch at IDEA.2025: 
1st place for mechIC ​

IDEA.2025: a platform for innovative minds from science, start-ups and society with the aim of exchange, inspiration and networking. This event was organized by the WORLDFACTORY Start-up Center.

As part of this event, mechIC took part in the NRW Start-up Pitch Battle together with seven other start-ups from seven universities across NRW. The EXIST research transfer mechIC was able to secure 1st place and is delighted to receive micro-funding and a wildcard for the ruhrSUMMIT Award at ruhrHUB.

mechIC at Hannovermesse 2025

The EXIST research transfer mechIC was represented at a start-up stand at the Hannover Messe. Our participation in the Hannover Messe also marked the halfway point of EXIST Research Transfer Phase 1, which is why we are delighted that we were able to achieve so much before and during the Hannover Messe. This includes the completion of various demonstrators, numerous good discussions that show us that the market is just waiting for us, the visit of State Secretary Udo Philipp from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK), the presentation by Philip Schmitt on the Industrial Stage on the topic of “Energy self-sufficient sensors for condition monitoring”, Lisa Schmitt's participation in the Female Entrepreneurship panel, many new contacts, project and prospective buyers, and much more.

Gründungspreis+ at "Start-up Competition Digital Innovations" of BMWK

It was a special honor for mechIC GmbH to be one of six start-ups to receive the €32,000 Gründungspreis+ from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK). A total of 21 start-ups were honored in the “Start-up Competition - Digital Innovations” in the winter round 2025, selected from 263 applications. The winning start-ups were awarded a total of more than €300,000. 

The “Start-up Competition Digital Innovations” is a nationwide, open-industry ideas competition with which the BMWK recognizes and supports start-ups based on digital technologies in their early stages. A jury of experts from business, science and the start-up scene selects up to six start-up ideas to receive the Gründungspreis+. 

In addition to a written assessment of our project as part of a SWOT analysis, we also benefit from coaching, mentoring and networking opportunities through the Gründungspreis+.

TOP 10 ranking at nationwide business plan competition Start2Grow

mechIC GmbH achieved 4th place in the nationwide Start2Grow business plan competition. The competition, which promotes innovative and technology-oriented business ideas, gave us the unique opportunity to present our business model to a jury of experts. Many thanks to our supporters who have accompanied us on this journey.

2nd place at High-Tech.NRW Demo Day #4

With mechIC and RayVen, two start-ups from the ETIT faculty of Ruhr University Bochum were successfully selected from around 50 applications from all over NRW for the 12-week DeepTech Accelerator program of the state of NRW.
 
The High-Tech.NRW Accelerator Program is funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. In recent years, a number of selected start-ups have already passed through the program in three batches, benefiting from the opportunity to strengthen their business case and validate it in the large High-Tech.NRW network. This year, mechIC and RayVen successfully made it into the top 10 in Batch#4 of the program. For 12 weeks, both start-ups were able to take part in numerous lectures on various topics relating to start-ups in the DeepTech sector. At the same time, they were able to benefit from the large network of the High-Tech.NRW Accelerator, find suitable mentors and establish numerous industry contacts, thereby expanding their networks and gaining visibility. 

The program concluded on 6 June 2024 with the High-Tech.NRW Demo Day #4 at Wilo SE in Dortmund. The 10 finalists were able to present their business ideas to other representatives from politics, business and science. Each of the start-ups presented themselves to a jury in a 5-minute pitch and then took part in a Q&A session. As the crowning glory of the Accelerator program, mechIC was able to secure 2nd place with 6000€ in prize money.

1st place at the WSC Demo Day - mechIC is the TOP start-up of RUB 2024!

On April 29, 2024, ten promising start-ups from Ruhr-Universität Bochum presented their innovative start-up ideas at the second Worldfactory Demo Day. Each of the nominated start-ups had three minutes to present their concept, followed by a two-minute Q&A session with the jury. The winner was mechIC with its vision of providing sensors that do not require electricity for measurement and storage. First place included prize money of €1,500 sponsored by NRW.Bank and participation in the Slush conference in Helsinki in November. We would like to thank the organizers of the Worldfactory of the Ruhr University for this great event!

2nd place at Tahko Ski Lift Pitch contest

On April 2-3, 2024, the Tahko Ski Lift Pitch took place in Finland with 35 start-ups from 7 countries taking part. Philip and Henning successfully defended our start-up in 4 rounds and achieved 2nd place!
